Young (Under 18) Coaches

You don't have to be an adult to be a coach ! Over the past few seasons in Palo Alto, there have been a growing number of older teenagers (typically AYSO players who are in high school) who have enjoyed the challenge of coaching.

Why Should I Coach

The main reason to coach is that it's fun.

It can also improve your own skills.

Managing a group of younger kids is a challenge.

It counts towards community service.

What Do I Need To Do

To sign up, click here.

Youth coaches must have an adult present at every practice and game. It can be a parent from the team, and need not be someone who will help coach. We will help set that up if you do not have somebody in mind. You also need to be able to transport a bag of 10 soccer balls & cones to practice.

If you are playing on an AYSO team, we will try to make sure that your practices do not conflict, but this may be difficult, and we can't guarantee this. We recommend that you coach with at least one other friend.

You need to be aware that if you agree to become a coach, you will have a team that is relying on you to show up to practices and games, and you need to be able to manage your schedule to accomodate homework, your own soccer practice, AND two practices with the team you are coaching.

It Sounds Like Hard Work

It is. But, all of the youth coaches that I have talked to have enjoyed the experience.
