Volunteering ********************************************************** This is our second newsletter of the season and I want to start off my letting everyone know that the AYSO soccer camp run by MLS is now open for registration. AYSO Soccer Camps As mentioned before, there will be two one week camps, with the first week being the week of July 9th and the second week being the week of August 13th. The soccer camp will be held at Greer Park. The soccer camp is open to kids ages 5 through 14 and at all skill levels. When signing up, you can sign up for one of the weeks or both. There are two options, the half day option from 9 AM to noon and the full day option from 9 AM to 4 PM. There is no child care before 9 AM and after 4 PM. The half day option is $105 per week, while the full day option is $155. Each camper will receive a soccer ball and a t-shirt. Campers are required to wear shinguards and bring a water bottle. Cleats are not required. To sign up for the camp, go to http://www.mlscamps.com. From that page you can click on Camps to find out more about the MLS philosophy. When you are ready to register, click on the link for Register for a Soccer Camp. From the next page, click on the Register link. You should now be on the Locator page. On this page, enter CA for the state and Palo Alto for the city and click on Search. This will bring up a page with the registration links. Click on the appropriate link and follow the registration instructions. If you have any further questions, pleased let me know. The coaches for the camps are coming from the United Kingdom. If you are interested in housing a coach for the week, please let me know. My email address is rc-07@ayso26.org. ********************************************************** FALL REGISTRATION This is a friendly reminder that fall registration will be starting up soon. More details about the registration will be coming in a future newsletter, but this is just a heads up that online registration will start on April 16th. Mark your calendars and check out our web-site at http://www.ayso26.org. ********************************************************** VOLUNTEERING As all of you may know, AYSO is an all volunteer organization and one of the largest volunteer sports organizations in America. Last year in Palo Alto we had over 150 teams and more than 2100 kids playing soccer. This year, our goal is 2200 kids. However, with an organization this large, it takes plenty of volunteers to help keep it running smoothly. If you are looking for ways to volunteer, here are a few positions we need help filling: Web Master Public Relations Balls and Cones Distribution Goals and Nets Manager Auditor Volunteer Coordinator Forms Collector If any of the above positions sounds interesting and you would like more information, let me know. If you'd like to help out but are concerned about over-committing yourself, let me know and I will try to pair you up with someone else to handle the job. My email address is rc-07@ayso26.org. Division Coordinators We are looking for a few people interested in becoming a division coordinator. This position involves generating the teams for a particular division and answering any questions that a parent in you division might have. If you are interested in becoming a division coordinator and want more information, send me an email at rc-07@ayso26.org. We have been successful with having 2 people handle one division, so if you'd like to help out as a co-coordinator, let me know. Coaches and Referees As the number of kids playing soccer increases, so does the need for coaches and referees. AYSO offers plenty of training classes for different age groups. If you have never coached or refereed a soccer game before, now is your chance. We are always on the lookout for energetic parents willing to work with kids. Check out our web-site at http://www.ayso26.org and click on the coach link or referee link on the left side of the page. We are continuously updating these sections with new classes and information so check back frequently. If you want more information about either becoming a coach or a referee, send me an email at rc-07@ayso26.org. Saul Rotblatt Regional Commissioner rc-07@ayso26.org -------------------------------------------------------- You received this email because one or more of your children was registered to play in AYSO in Palo Alto in the Fall 2006 season, or you are a volunteer for the organization. Until registration for Fall 2007 is underway, we will be using our email list from Fall 2006. If you do not want to receive any more of these messages, please send email to aysonews-07@ayso26.org to be removed from the list.
