Newsletter April 27, 2007 ********************************************************* INDEX 1. Registration 2. Volunteering 3. Coaches and Referees 4. Team Formation 5. Jewelry 6. Live soccer - US Men's National team! To All AYSO Parents: Registration: Registration has officially started and we are currently at 11% of our goal of 2200 kids. If you have not yet registered, please go http://www.ayso26.org and click on the registration link. If your child played soccer last season in AYSO and you cannot remember your username and/or password, please do not create a new account. Just send an email to accounthelp@ayso26.org, and we will let you know your username and password. You do NOT have to print out any registration forms. If you are paying online, then there is nothing to mail in. If you are paying by check, please make out the check to AYSO and mail it to the following address: AYSO PO BOX 1493 Palo Alto CA 94302 ********************************************************* Volunteering: While you are going through the registration process, please take a moment to look at the volunteer positions. AYSO is an all-volunteer organization and we are always on the lookout for more volunteers. This month's special includes auditor, referee uniform and equipment coordinator, and Child and Volunteer Protection Advocate. If any of these positions peaks your interest and you would like to know about them, just send me an email at rc-07@ayso26.org. ********************************************************* Coaches and Referees: This year we are going to have an open house for coaches and referees where you can learn more about coaching or reffing, find out about training and mentoring and meet experienced coaches and refs. So, if you thought about wanting to coach or ref and were afraid to commit, this event will help you overcome that fear. Look for more details to come. ********************************************************* Team Formation: This year, we are going to attempt to form the teams in early August. This means that we need all kids registered no later than mid July in order for us to form the teams in the first week of August. Please make every effort to register before the end of school as this will help us assess coaching and ref needs, as well as practice field requirements, sooner rather than later. ********************************************************* Jewelry: Last year, there was some confusion regarding wearing earrings during the soccer games. Please note that for safety reasons, your child will not be allowed to play if they are wearing an earring or a stud (or any other kind of jewelry). As such, please do not have your child's ear pierced too close to the start of the season. For more information, please refer to the handbook. ********************************************************* US Men's National Team vs China in San Jose: With the disappearance of the Earthquakes, we don't often have an opportunity to watch live soccer played at a high level. Here is a chance to see the US Men's National team in action against China, at Spartan Stadium in San Jose. The game is at 5:00pm on Saturday, June 2nd. A discount is available for groups of 15 or more. See this web page for ticket ordering details: http://ussoccer.com/articles/viewArticle.jsp_281738.html ********************************************************* That is it for this newsletter, if you have any questions, or suggestions for upcoming newsletters, please let me know. My plan is to have a newsletter go out twice a month.
