AYSO Region 26 News Letter April 15th, 2008 Dear Parents: By now most of you should have received a post card in the mail or a flyer from your childfs school reminding you that registration for AYSO soccer is now open. Every year parents wait until the last minute to register only to find out that they are too late as the division that their child is in has filled up. Donft let this happen to your child. Registration is now available by going to http://www.ayso26.org and clicking on the registration link. This year, in order to guarantee a spot for your child, you must complete the registration process prior to June 15th. Team formation will start on August 1st. If you register after July 1st, the fee will increase from $95 to $150. You MUST pay the registration fees in order to be considered as registered. Your registration date is the date you paid. While you are registering, please consider volunteering. As you know, AYSO is an all-volunteer organization. While we cannot require anyone to volunteer, the success of this organization is dependent on getting as many volunteers as possible. This year, our goal is to have at least 80% of the families volunteering. Please help us reach that goal. If you have never coached or refereed a soccer game, you can still be a coach or a referee. This is especially true in the younger divisions U7, U8 and U9. AYSO provided training as well as mentoring programs. Ideally, each team needs two coaches and two referees. So, if you can help out, please consider doing so. If you want more information on coaching or refereeing, just let me know. If you are interested in helping out in some other manner, here are a few positions that we need to fill: Assistant Regional Commissioner Assistant Treasurer Assistant Registrar Safety Director CVPA Goals and Nets Manager Balls and Cones Manager Telephone Coordinator Picture Day Coordinator Volunteer Coordinator If you are interested in any one of the above positions or would like more information, please let me know. There are other volunteer positions available that you will see during the registration process. We are also looking for division commissioners. The division commissioner is responsible for forming the teams in a particular division. The following divisions are available: G7, G8, G12 B7, B8, B9, B12 If you are interested in being a division commissioner or would like more information, just let me know. Last year we have 2014 kids playing soccer. This year our goal is 2200 kids. So spread the word. Make sure all of your friends know about AYSO and tell them to register before June 15th. Registration for the AYSO soccer camps have been going well and there is still some room left. If you are interested in signing up your child for one or more weeks of fun soccer, go to http://www.aysosoccercamps.org. If you would like more information on the soccer camps, please let me know. The camps will take place at Greer Park and are a great value. We offer half day programs and full day programs. Stay tuned for more newsletters between now and the end of school. Thanks for playing and supporting soccer in Palo Alto. Saul Rotblatt Regional Commissioner
