Parents: AYSO Fall registration has been open for three weeks now and we have just over 500 kids registered in the program. If you have already registered and paid your fees, thanks you and I look forward to seeing your child play soccer in the fall. If you have not yet registered, please consider doing so as soon as possible. The earlier people register, the earlier we can start planning the fall season. Our goal is to have at least 1800 kids registered by the time the school year ends. To register, please go to http://www.ayso26.org and click on the registration link. If you have any questions or concerns, pleased let me know. My email address is aysoinfo @ ayso26.org or saul_r @ comcast.net. The current fee is $95 per child, except for the kinder league which is $40 per child. We are always on the lookout for volunteers. Please consider helping us by selecting one of the volunteer positions available in the registration process. If you have questions on registration, AYSO philosophy, practices and games, feel free to come to one of our two walk-in registrations. They will be held on Friday, May 2nd from 5-8 p.m. and on Saturday, May 3rd from 10-12 a.m. The walk-in registration will take place at Score on Middlefield Avenue in Midtown. We are also looking at having an open house night, where you can come by, meet board members, coaches and referees and find out more about AYSO. Stay tunes for more on that in a future newsletter. There is still room in our AYSO soccer camps this summer. To register for these camps, go to http://www.aysosoccercamps.org. If you would like more information about these camps, send an email to Neil Diaz at n.diaz @ aysosoccercamps.org. These camps are very well run and lots of fun for the kids. This summer we will be having our third annual summer Soccerfest. Palo Alto AYSO will again be providing an opportunity for kids to play soccer this summer on Saturday mornings from 10-12 am. Soccerfest is intended to provide a safe environment for kids to come together and play soccer. No coaching, refereeing or spectators shouting from the sidelines. AYSO provides the fields, pinnies, cones, balls and Safe Haven certified monitors. The kids chose up teams for pick up games and provide the fun. There will be two games: one for U12 players and one for U14 and older. In addition, if there are an equal number of boys and girls at the younger age then we will have a boys-only and a girls-only game. There are 10 Soccerfest Saturdays from June 21 to August 23. You may attend any or all of the sessions that you want. Best of all, this is all free of charge. Who can play: Soccerfest is open to all players (boys and girls) who are registered in the Fall 2007 season or Fall 2008 seasons in the U12 to U19 age groups. If our player will be playing at the U12 level or above this Fall then they are eligible. What is required: Bring a copy of your AYSO registration form signed by a parent to the first session you attend. You will not be permitted to play without a signed form. You can print out the forms you need by doing the following: Go to http://www.ayso26.org/ scroll to the bottom of the page and log in using the name and password you have previously used to register your son or daughter. When the WebYouthSoccer page displays, click on "Form Package" in the left-hand column. The browser will load Acrobat and display the forms. Print a copy, sign and bring to the field. If this doesn't work, just come to the field with a pen and your health insurance information. We will have blank forms for you to fill out when you get there. Shin guards are required. Prompt pickup of you child at 12pm. Cleats recommended. Water and sun screen recommended. Where and When: Greer fields #1, #2. Every Sat starting from June 21 to August 23 from 10am - 12pm. How much does it cost ? No fee. Volunteers needed : We are looking for coaches, referees and parents who would like to volunteer as field monitors for any of the Soccerfest sessions. Safe Haven training is required. If you don't have this training it's easy to get through an online training class that takes about 35 minutes. Please contact Ray Wong if you are interested. For Questions on Soccerfest: Contact Ray Wong at boyscom_08 @ ayso26.org. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me at saul_r @ comcast.net.
