Newsletter 6/17/09 This email is going out to all parents in our database. Starting next week, the newsletters will only be going out to parents of registered kids. If your child is not yet registered, there is still time. Early registration ends this Friday. After that the fees will increase and your child will be placed on the waitlist. Donft let that happen. We already have 1700 kids in the system and our goal is 1800. This year, the number of teams formed will be based on the number of coaches we have. As a result, there may be less teams this year than last year. That means that kids on the waitlist will have an increased chance of not making it on a team. To register your child, please go to: http://www.ayso26.org and click on the registration link. Keep in mind that your child is not fully registered until payment is received. You can pay by PayPal or by check. If you have already registered but have not yet paid (we have 180 kids in preregistered status), you can pay by credit card by going to: http://www.ayso26.org/registration/ayso-reg-end.html. You can also pay be check, by mailing it or dropping it off at: AYSO | Palo Alto 626 Wildwood Lane Palo Alto CA 94303 Payment MUST be received by end of day Friday or your child will be waitlisted. We are still looking for more coaches and referees especially in the younger divisions. If you have not yet volunteered, please consider doing so. We do provide training and mentoring. If you have any questions about coaching, please contact Jack Bungarden at rca_09 @ ayso26.org. If you have any questions about refereeing, please contact Lee Berg at rca_09 @ ayso26.org. Summer has already started and so have summer camps. This is week one of ten weeks of soccer camp. There is still time to sign up. We are using two different vendors: Challenger and UK Soccer. Links to both camps are on our web-site. Just go to http://www.ayso26.org . Every two years, AYSO holds its version of the World Cup by having a national tournament. A lottery is held to see which teams from around the country will be invited. The next games will be held in Florida in the summer of 2010. We were fortunate to have two teams invited: B19 and G16. In order to be eligible for one of those teams, you must be a registered player in the fall season in one of those two divisions. For more information on the national games, please contact Ray Wong at raymond_wong @ sbcglobal.net. Summer SoccerFest is upon us. During the summer we have pickup games at Greer park on Saturdays. For more information on this free program, go to http://www.ayso26.org/calendar.html#SUMMER_SOCCERFEST or contact Carol Sexton at carol.sexton @ gmail.com or Ray Wong at raymond_wong @ sbcglobal.net. Have a great summer and think soccer. Saul Rotblatt Regional Commissioner
