With the first four weeks of the season behind us, I hope that the season is progressing well and that your child is having fun. We are always striving to do a better job, so if you see any areas that we can improve upon, please let us know. While nothing is perfect, please keep in mind that we are an al-volunteer organization with very few volunteers.
Our first photo day was this past Saturday and we only had one volunteer even though a number of you signed up to help. Our second photo day is this Saturday for the kinder league from 2 PM to 5 PM. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS. Our third photo day will be on October 17th from 8 AM to 6 PM. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS. We need people to help out the photographer to collect forms, get kids organized, etc. If you can help out for an hour or two, please let me know. Let me know which day you can help and the time slot.
For those of you that have kids in U9 and above, we have a spring select league. There are tryouts for those teams as the level of play is slightly higher than in the fall season. There are many tournaments as well which is great fun for the kids. If your child really loves soccer and can commit to it in the spring time, I invite you to try out for one of the teams. The tryout schedule is on the website at
For those of you with kids in the U12 and U14 divisions, there is a regional tournament at the end of the season, followed by an area tournament, For the area tournament, we will be sending 3 or 4 teams from each division. The regional tournaments will be held on the weekend of November 21st. The area tournament will be held on the weekend of December 5th. There is a section tournament that follows that on the following weekend. At most one team from each division will make that tournament.
This year, several of our board members will be retiring and we will be looking for new board members. In a couple of weeks, I will be sending out another newsletter with descriptions of the open positions. Please consider volunteering your time to keep this organization going. Currently, over half of the board either has no child playing in AYSO or has a child in their last year or two. We need fresh blood on the board. I have now been regional commissioner for four years on a three year term and this is my last season in that position. I am looking for my replacement.
