Observations and Assessments

"That wasn't as bad as I thought it would be." "Thank you, I learned a lot. " These are two typical comments that I've heard after completing an assessment. Most of us, including me, anticipate a formal review of our work - any of our various jobs or hobbies - with a definite sense of anxiety. So too with our best hobby, AYSO refereeing. However, those of you who've had an upgrade assessment will agree that it was not that bad and was in fact a good educational tool.

We in Section 2 are fortunate in having an excellent cadre of assessors who can, with adequate notice, help you with a formal assessment for a badge upgrade. Another way to use one of us is by asking for an informal observation of your refereeing. An observation does not require a written report, and is a good way to prepare for an assessment.

If you are interested in a review of your skills, please contact your Region or Area Director of Assessment. When you contact the ADA, have a specific game in mind, and do not wait until the last game of the season. In the past two years we have not been able to accommodate all of the last minute requests. Call early.

Happy games!
