U8 Official Course

If you are a new referee for Under-8 year olds, you MUST attend the U8 Official Course.
Fall 2014 classes are now in eAYSO for signup.

This course introduces new referees to AYSO soccer as it is played by 6 and 7 year olds in Palo Alto in our U8 division.
Prior to fall 2013, Region 26 had U7 and U9 divisions that also used this course, so you can expect to see references to "U7-U9" training on some Region 26 web sites.
U6 and below divisions do not use referees.
The course is a single, three-hour class session and assumes no prior knowledge of soccer.  To earn your U8 Official badge you must attend this class and must be registered as an AYSO volunteer.

The class sessions for the U8 Official course will be held five times in 2014 at Cubberley Community Center, 4000 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto.
  • Thursday, 8/28, 6:30-9:30 PM, Rm A3, Roster #: 201403004

You need to attend only one of these sessions.  Check back at this site a few days before your course for updates on rooms or other information.

Receiving your badge: If you have completed registration and training you will receive your badge at the end of the class.  Otherwise, when all requirements are complete please send an email to rdri@ayso26.org including your name, address, AYSO ID Number, and class title and date, and your badge will be mailed to you.
Follow these steps to complete the process and receive your badge in a timely manner.
  1. Complete Volunteer Registration.  Register at http://volunteer.ayso26.org at least one week before your classroom session--two weeks is recommended.  Mail your signed copies of your volunteer forms right away to receive your AYSO ID Number, required to take on line training and register for classes. In the past, you could obtain your AYSO ID Number from eAYSO or from your printed volunteer forms as soon as you submitted your registration forms, and use it to take online training immediately--that may still be the case.
  2. Register for your selected course on eAYSO as early as possible.  The instructions are on the Referee Clinic Schedule page.
  3. Complete online Safe Haven training and Concussion Awareness training at http://www.aysotraining.org/ before coming to the class.  Use your AYSO ID number to ensure you receive proper credit.  It takes a few hours total to get through these courses.
  4. Arrive five minutes early.  The course is compressed for your convenience, but you must take all the modules to get credit for the course.
  5. Bring pencil and paper for note taking
  6. Bring your water bottle.  We will have additional water and snacks available.
Referee uniforms and equipment will be distributed during the class.

Withdrawing from the Course
If you have signed up in eAYSO but will not be able to make it, please withdraw from the course using instructions at the bottom of the Referee Classes page.
