Palo Alto Spring Select - PASS
The Spring Select Program is competitive and offers players the opportunity to play and learn soccer at a high level of sophistication and training. Players must tryout to be selected for a position on a Spring Select team. PASS Teams play other Regions' competitive teams in the PCSSL league, and play in tournaments in the Greater Bay Area with other AYSO Regions and club teams. PASS provides a fun and competitive learning opportunity for players to develop their personal and team skills further.
A typical PASS season starts with once-a-week training starting in mid-January, and scrimmages. Then in February the schedule picks up the pace with two trainings per week, and the team plays in the PCSSL (Pacific Coast Spring Select League) in the South Bay and Peninsula. PCSSL games are generally on Sunday. Later, in April and May, the team will participate in tournaments in the Greater Bay Area, culminating with the Davis World Cup on Memorial Day weekend. Tournaments are multiple day competitions with multiple games/day. Generally, with the exception of the Davis World Cup, all games and tournaments are within same-day driving distance. Teams stay overnight in Davis for the Cup.
Participation in the program is only available to players that participated in an AYSO regular Fall Program, and attended at least 50% of the training sessions and played in at least 50% of the games. Players are selected during tryouts usually held near the end of October. The tryouts are used to rank the players for assignment to teams. Players from U9 through U19 may participate in teams for U10 through U19.
We would like to provide the opportunity to all advanced players, but can only provide team slots in accordance with the number of coaches volunteering. If you are interested in helping, contact spring@ayso26.org and discuss the possibility of assisting or coaching. We need more help to make enough teams for more players.
PLAYER PARTICIPATION REQUIRES A STRONG COMMITMENT. READ BELOW.
