D - Important Dates

Coach Meeting, Training and Equipment Distribution – Check for the time and place of the coach meeting on our Regional Calendarusually held in early March and late August.  This meeting is for all coaches and assistant coaches and will explain running the game day.  Check on the Clinics Calendar for U6 training clinics.  You should be dressed for light exercise.  Equipment distribution will be announced at the Coach Meeting and on the Regional Calendar.

The Kinder Producer or Division Commissioner will inform you by email when your team is formed and the roster is available.  Kick-start your season right away following the advice from this page, accessed from the Coach / Team Administration in WYS in the menu at the top.

First Game Day – Coaches should assign duties to other parents during the first session (e.g. snack duty schedule; team photographer; end of season party organizers).  We recommend that you suggest that parents bring a healthy snack for the team; no donuts or other sweets.  Favorites are grapes, melon slices, and bagels.  Snack guidelines are here.

Coach's Code
  1. Enthusiastically support and practice the "everyone plays and positive coaching" philosophies of AYSO.
  2. Be reasonable in your demands on the young player's time, energy, enthusiasm and their performance on the field.
  3. Impress on your players that they must abide by the rules of the game at all times.
  4. Set a good example and be generous with your praise when it is deserved.
  5. Children need a coach they can respect and emulate.
Your team
Nominally, you will have 10 players on your team.  The team will either be made up of all boys or all girls in U6, and co-ed in U5.  Your child will be on your team.  Please DO NOT switch players with a different team.  Every player will receive a reversible jersey to facilitate intra-squad scrimmages.  The players must wear their jersey and shin guards every time you meet.  You will be provided with balls and cones to bring to each practice/scrimmage.   You will have a ball for each child.
