A division may not be able to have enough coaches for the number of players that have volunteered. If all reasonable efforts have been made to recruit coaches and the number still falls short, then form the number of teams that we have coaches for, prioritize the players onto those teams, and inform the balance of the players that due to lack of volunteer coaches we can not form enough teams to permit them to play in Palo Alto AYSO this year.
This is a sad situation for all, but if it can't be helped due to lack of volunteers, we have no choice.
Priority of Players The Priority of players is already computed by the system and takes into account whether the player's parents are volunteering and the date they registered. The priority points are awarded as follows;
Expose the Priority Information
The Easy Way If you see an easy adjustment that will quickly identify the few players that will be rejected, and you are folllowing our policy of prioritization, go for it. But be prepared to explain what you did to the RC, parent and child. Initial Set Up to Modify Teams Move all the priority zero players to the Wait List. Move all the non-zero priority players that are in the Wait List to the Unassigned pool. At this point, you should not have any players on a team, or in the unassigned pool with a rating of zero. If you do, move those players to the Wait List. | More Setup to Modify the Teams Look at your teams to see how many players you need. If you have more players in your unassigned pool than you need to fill your teams, look at the registration date of the players in the unassigned pool and move the last registered player to the Wait List. Repeat this until you have the number of players remaining in the unassigned pool to fill your teams. If you have less players in your unassigned pool than you need to fill your team, look at the registration date of the players in the Wait List and more the earliest registered player to the Unassigned pool. Repeat this until you have the number of players remaining in the unassigned pool to fill your teams. Compose the Teams Now click the Done button at the top of the page. This will take you back to the Team Formation page. On this page, click the Form Team From Available Pool button, and the rest of the players in the available pool will be distributed out to the teams, following the policies of player distribution as best it can. Final Step You may have drops in your division later, and be able to place some players from the wait list. Once the parents see the schedule they sometimes choose to drop their player in favor of another sport. Once the teams are published to the parents everyone will know whether they are on a team, or on the wait list. Go back to the Commissioners Handbook, and continue the process. |
