05 Assign Practice Fields


To begin, click on the Team Formation menu item for your division and click the button labeled Continue with Team Formation.  Then click on the button  Assign Practice Fields/Times to Coaches.  If your practice field table is not filled in, the Practice Field Coordinator has not yet worked out the available slots for this year.  Return to this step when the Practice Field Coordinator has entered the information into the system.  If you have any issues with the available fields, please contact our practice field coordinator at pfc@ayso26.org.  
Each practice slot is shown as a single line item in the table at the top of the page.  Each coach will be assigned two slots for his practice.  Ordinarily, you will want to choose the matching two slots for each coach, and closest to his neighborhood, as indicated by his child's school.

Each slot is designated by Field, Day and Time.  To match a pair of slots for two training sessions a week, you can match the time for the same field.  The Time is designated by each day, such as M,T,W,R,F.  The R is used for Thursday so as to be not confused with Tuesday.

Sometimes a coach will request an unmatched pair of slots.  Be careful that you do not create a cascading problem for yourself, where giving a coach an unmatched set of slots causes other pairs to get unmatched.  You have manual control of this.

You assign coaches to a slot.  To do so, click on the name of the field for a particular slot and it will open a dialog box where you can assign or unassign a coach to that slot.

The system allows you to build your assignments by first assigning your coaches to the slots that match their available practice days.  The system will make all these assignments Potential, and place the names of the coach in the Potential column.  Once you have placed all your coaches into their potential assignments, you can then see which assignments are necessary and without options, because a coach appears in only one set of slots.  

To assign that slot to the coach click on the coach's name and his name will shift from the Potential column to the Assigned column.  

Click on each coach's name where you want to make assignments until every coach has two slots, as indicated in the Coach Summary table at the bottom of the page.
